A trip to Southsea was in order when the weather turned gorgeous for Sarah and some clients she works with. We really enjoy sharing the experiences of the people we work with. Thank you, Sarah!
After waiting for some decent weather to appear, they finally booked a day to go to the seaside. It was something that clients at Buller Court had been wanting to do all summer.
With the date picked, tickets booked and sun cream applied, they were ready! Jack, Susie, Richard and Carly were joined by two staff members, Sarah & Ngoni. They hopped on the 10:30 train to Fratton and headed out. After a short-ish walk, and only a couple of ‘are we there yets’, the sea came into view. Everyone filled their lungs with that refreshing sea air – bliss!
The first point of call, was lunch. Of course, the only lunch to have when by the sea is fish and chips. Thankfully, we avoided the notorious ‘flying chip thieves’. However, Sarah wasn’t able to avoid the human chip thief – Jack 😀
As eager as Susan was to get over to the pier and go on the rides, it was voted to let the fish & chips settle. Toes were dipped in the sea, stones were skimmed, the sun was enjoyed and there was lots of laughter.
Finally, it was time for the rides on the pier. Ngoni, Jack & Susan ‘enjoyed’ the Pirate Ship. Ngoni listened to Sarah’s great advice that the best seat was at the back… He wasn’t in agreement when he got off!
After an ice cream, no one wanted to walk back to the train station. So, a taxi chosen to get back.
Later, discussions were had about everyone’s favourite part of the day.
A fun trip to Southsea: feedback
Jack – “My best bit was spending the day with my friends & support workers and stealing Sarah’s chips”
Susan – “I enjoyed the caterpillar roller coaster and watching Jack & Ngoni standing in the sea”
Carly – “I really liked the sunshine on the beach”
Richard – “I loved ALL of it and want to do it again”
Seeing the joy on our clients faces makes our job so worthwhile 😊
