A New Chapter for HIVE Portsmouth started on July 25th with the opening of its new North Hub. The YOU Trust joined in celebrating the opening of HIVE Portsmouth’s new North Hub. Helping open the new premises was newly appointed Lord Mayor Jason Fazackarley. He was joined by Scott Jamieson, Managing Director of BAE Systems Maritime Services, and individuals from the voluntary sector.
The HIVE Portsmouth North Hub offers a space for the local voluntary community and social enterprise sectors to work together. It’s there to share ideas, collaborate, and network. Additionally, the facility offers meeting rooms, desk rentals, and charity incubation services tailored to meet the needs of these sectors.
A generous gift
BAE Systems Maritime generously donated £250,000 to establish the North Hub. This donation showcases BAE’s dedication to supporting local communities. It’s given HIVE the opportunity to create a bright, spacious environment that encourages new ideas and opportunities.
During the opening event, Portsmouth priest, Father Bob, cut a celebratory cake to add to the festivities. It signified the beginning of a new era for the local sector. Following this, The YOU Trust team enjoyed a slice of cake whilst mingling and exploring the new office space.
Exploring the new premises
Whilst touring the North Hub, The YOU Trust viewed the new range of meeting rooms, desk areas, and amenities. The rooms are fully equipped to support productive, informal and formal gatherings.
Visitors expressed their excitement about its potential to enhance their work environment and business operations. One attendee said: “This is exactly what our city needs – a place where we can concentrate on helping the community without the extortionate costs of traditional office space rentals.”
Looking forward
The opening of HIVE’s North Hub is a good step towards improving our community. It symbolises what can be achieved through combined efforts. It’s empowering to join forces with those who have a shared belief in the power of our community.
