Alan was referred to us for support as his mental and physical health meant he was not in control of his behaviours and this was causing distress for others. His isolating meant he would not let health and safety visits go ahead which put his housing at risk. We found out that Alan wanted to move from his property as he felt really isolated and was not able to manage the garden and felt let down that he had not been helped.
We worked with a number of other agencies to sort out the garden and the house to help Alan prepare for moving and to help his secure new accommodation. Alans’ psychiatrist said this was the first time that Alan had engaged so positively with people. The house was deep cleaned to make it habitable for Alan whilst he waited for new property, and he was eligible for some emergency grants which helped him purchase a new bed and cooker.
Alan feels really positive about his future and that he was being helped.
