January 2022 is almost over and our team at Cycling Without Age are gearing up (pun intended) for a busy year ahead! Our team of fully-trained and DBS-checked volunteer Pilots, now approaching 50 in number, are raring to go.
One of our goals is to combat social isolation and loneliness across Portsmouth and Hayling Island. We also want to make sure the lessons and stories of our elders are not forgotten. So we build and maintain inter-generational relationships from the comfort of our amazing electric Triobike tricycles. It’s also a great way to get out and about!
This year we will be visiting a number of Charitable groups in Portsmouth and Hayling that, like us, carry that same ethos; to combat isolation.
Cycling Without Age partners
We began the year at Spark Community Space, a charity in Portsmouth run by Beckie and a ‘family’ of volunteers. They host a drop-in service on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Sherlocks bar in Southsea. It was a great opening to the year to see so many happy faces! We had amazing engagement with the patrons there, many of whom joined us for rides.
You can access our service in two ways:
- Though your GP or social prescriber
- Join us at one of our group events (follow us on Facebook!)
We look forward to seeing you out on the road… Don’t forget to give us a big wave!
