CWA (Portsmouth) is an exciting project which aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness in Portsmouth and on Hayling Island.
We are looking for new Trike ‘pilots’ to take older people out for bike rides to experience the thrill of the wind in their hair. This gives them the opportunity to connect with and enjoy the outside spaces that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Cycling Without Age Portsmouth, part of The You Trust, will be hosting a series of recruitment events for new volunteer pilots at Bransbury Park in Portsmouth, with initial training and assessment from the 1st to 5th of September 2021, and a final training day from the 8th to 12th September.
The role requires current, competent cyclists with a strong awareness of road safety, whilst also offering a kind ear to listen, and good conversation where required. We are looking for ambassadors for the project, building lasting relationships with our passengers, and to build strong relationships with the local public in raising awareness of the project.
Your positive outlook, great listening skills, and desire to make a change in your community is backed up with full training for the role, and ongoing support and supervision from our volunteer co-ordinator.
We ask that you are willing to commit to an initial assessment session, with a follow up training session during the following week.
