Professional care workers are hardworking, compassionate people who work incredibly hard to help others. Our mental health and wellbeing service has amazing people working to better the lives of the people they care for. And we rely on them to support vulnerable people in so many ways.
Recently, we celebrated Professional Care Workers’ Week, and expressed our gratitude for all they do. Caroline, who is manager of our Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, wants to share her appreciation, too. Thanks Caroline!
Foundations of support
Without the support staff at Warnford, there wouldn’t be the person-centred care and support people we work with want and need. They are the foundations of all that is important. Giving hope, encouragement, joy, empathy, and a listening ear. They are there to hold them most when they are struggling. With no judgement, just care and support.
Residents baking
Support workers help build the people they work with back up when they find it hard to do. They know the clients all as individuals. Their fears and anxieties, as well as their hopes and dreams. The residence is their community, and we are all one big family.
My staff are amazing at what they do. And with each other’s support, I know we can face any challenges that comes our way. A as well as making good memories and lots of laughter.
We asked some of Caroline’s support workers to tell us why they enjoy their job.
I really enjoy my role as recovery partner. I want to help people and give them the equal opportunities that they are entitled too. I do this because I care about people and I want to ensure everyone is treated equally.
I want to come into work and see how our residents are with their smiles. I like to share their day.
I do this job because I enjoy supporting people and helping them to become independent.
I really enjoy my job when I see residents become happy with their lives and gain confidence in themselves. Especially when they become more independent and achieve the life that they want and enjoy.
We were lucky enough to also get some feedback from one of the people Caroline and her team support. James had this to say.
I really enjoy the support I get from my support worker, Dean. It means a lot to me. He is really helpful. He has motivated me to start shopping more and we have been doing lots of cooking which I am really enjoying. He is easy to talk to and very relaxed and chilled.
