We’re now on the last day of National Apprenticeship Week, and we’ve had fun celebrating their hard work and dedication to learning new skills!
I wanted to say thank you to all the amazing apprentices and well done for your hard work.
As many know, learning and development at The YOU Trust is very important. Apprenticeships play a key role in our charity’s strategy. We encourage our staff to undertake appropriate apprenticeships because it helps them grow. This is why during the last few years we’ve had 42 students that have completed an apprenticeship. Achieving an amazing 87% distinction pass grade.
The UK government has just announced some much-needed changes to the apprenticeship system. It’s one that we’ve been campaigning for, too. The change means that English and maths are now optional. This opens up many to qualifications in sectors that do not require these.
New guidance
We are waiting for the new guidance from our training provider and the Department of Education and we will be looking on changing our process to reflect this amazing change.
If you have been put off on doing an apprenticeship until now, today is the time to sign up!
Extra changes announced were changes to the End Point Assessments (EPAs). Now the system is far simpler and more flexible, while still ensuring apprentices prove their competence for skilled work.
Where appropriate, apprentices will be assessed on key elements during their apprenticeship rather than all at the end. Also, training providers may be able to deliver elements of the assessment, rather than having to rely on external assessors.
