This week we’re celebrating Learning Disability Week 2024. The theme for the week is ‘Do you see me?’ So, to support this important theme, we’ve asked the people we work with to tell us about themselves. It’s important to showcase the wonderful personalities of the people we work with to remove stigmas associated with learning disabilities.
Today, Hannah shares her weekly activities with us. Thanks Hannah!
My name is Hannah Lewis. I live on my own in a bungalow in Denmead. I am supported 24/7 by my team of six or seven support staff.
A day for me consists of completing my jobs which I use my sticker chart to follow. I love going out in my car and going on walks & pubs. I have a great sense of humour and make my team laugh lots.
I’d also say that my day revolves around food! I enjoy cooking and also eating in restaurants and cafes. Family are important to me. My mum picks me up every Sunday and takes me for lunch and to her house to catch up.
My dad lives in Australia, but calls me every week to see how I am doing.
I enjoy watching TV in the evenings and having a pamper.
It is very important that staff are consistent with me and keep me motivated each day.
I choose to follow the same routine each day so I know what I am expecting. This also makes me happy and content. I am not a big fan of change; but I am learning to accept this may happen.
I have confidence in the staff and they will support me to try new things.

PS: I am obsessed with Kevin the carrot!
