Learning Disability Week is all about learning what the people we work with get up to. So with that in mind, we asked Malcolm and Deanie to share with us their routine!
Malcolm and Deanie’s typical week.
Malcolm and Geraldine (Deanie) attends Create Ability every Monday from 10:30 – 12:30. This is their chance to create more wonderful pictures to put up around Millmount Bungalow. Geraldin and Gemma (staff) drive them both there and stay till they are both ready to come home. Two staff need to go so that they can travel in his motability car specially equipped wheelchairs.
On Tuesday’s, they join Lucy and Gemma and go to Greenham Business Park to attend a new day service with Diamond Care. Here they do arts and crafts, cooking and woodwork. They both also enjoy meeting up with all of their friends. This goes on until 2.30pm, then it’s a drive back to Millmount.
Wednesday, both go with Deanie to Blackbushe Airport to watch the planes and to have lunch at the Pathfinder Café. Sometimes there is a motorcycle rally event there which they really enjoy!
Thursdays Malcom and Deanie head into Fleet to have lunch. Fridays, are spent in one of the local garden centres. They like to watch the fish and also to have lunch there. On Saturdays, they visit the cinema, but if there are no suitable films, they may go bowling or to crazygolf. Sundays is a day to chill-out at home doing art and cooking/baking with staff.
