Today we hosted a ‘parkrun takeover’ in Cams Mill estate. The Fareham parkrun event was to raise awareness around the work we do. We were joined by family, friends, volunteers and supporters for a fantastic morning in the sun!
The race started at 9am, with participants running 5km course through the Cams Hall Estate. Of course, parkrun is an event not just for runners, but for walkers, joggers, and spectators. And doggies! Which is why we support parkrun and their philosophy. Getting people outdoors to share in a fun activity is great for your health, both your mental and physical. Many of the participants said it’s a great way to recharge the soul and mind.
We also want to once again wish the lovely lady who ran who turned 80 today! What a way to celebrate your special day!
Parkrun health benefits
We value the importance of public participation and how this can help maintain positive mental health. We chatted with many interested people about the services we offer. For example, our Counselling with You service helps those with mental health concerns in Portsmouth while our Cycling Without Age helps gets socially isolated individuals out into their communities. Both of these help people with their mental health.
We’re raising money to keep these services going, so if you’d like to help, please do! Donate now.
We’re thankful to parkrun for their assistance in helping us host the day and hope to do it again soon!
