Each member of You First has a passion for working with people who are experiencing domestic abuse and our guiding principles for working together with victims and survivors of domestic abuse ensure that actions and behaviours lead to:
- safety being central
- effective and trustworthy partnerships
- staff being client focused at all times
Following an assessment, the You First Single Point of Contact (SPOC) team will work with you to personalise the service you receive from a range of options. The SPOC team are trained in risk and assessment and will:
- contact you within 48hrs of being referred to the service
- complete a specialist risk assessment
- discuss immediate safety/support concerns
- discuss options
- link with the appropriate support as determined by risk
- link with other agencies if needed
You First has grown and developed in response to knowledge gained, information received and feedback from clients, volunteers, commissioners and staff, from colleagues and from national best practice. You First base their services on personalised support, set within clear respectful working practices, which values each person we work with. People have fed back that they would like each member of staff to – listen, understand, not judge, be friendly, be approachable, be patient, be relaxed and happy, be warm, caring and kind, make sure they have time and not let people down.
