SIDAS Animal fostering services aims to help those who are experiencing domestic abuse to get help.
If you can offer an animal a loving, caring foster home on a temporary basis, we would love to hear from you! Animal foster carers provide families at risk of domestic abuse with vital support, as many are afraid to access safe accommodation for fear of leaving their pets at home and at risk of serious harm.
Foster placements could be anything from one night of emergency care to six months, or longer in some cases. Once our families have safely resettled into permanent accommodation, they are reunited with their beloved animals.
Some animals that we foster may have been abused and can be traumatised by their experiences, and this can be intensified by being separated from their families. Before accepting animals into our fostering service, we gather as much information about them as possible, but we cannot be certain or predict how an animal will behave in a temporary home.
We try to match animals to the right foster family. So we’ll try to get to know you and your situation well during the application process.
Fostering expenses such as veterinary care, pet food, bedding, and accessories will be paid for by the scheme.
