As part of our celebrations for National Trustees week, we are profiling our own. We wanted to celebrate the work they do by getting to know them each a little better. Today we profile Sara Langston!
Trustees Week: Sara Langston
I was quite young and early in my career when I joined the Trust, so the main attraction for me was the opportunity to learn so much from the organisation and my fellow trustees, and eventually be able to contribute in some way to their work.
Why did you choose The YOU Trust?
I love that YOU cuts straight to what’s important to all of us – being able to live your life. It might seem like we do a lot of different things, but it’s all connected by that thread of empowering people to thrive. One goal that achieves so much for so many.
What have you learnt so far?
I’ve learned that big organisations can still be agile and have local impact when you listen to what really matters to people.
What is your favourite holiday location and why?
Everywhere! I love seeing what life’s like in different places, especially in the ordinary everyday things, like how in Japan the train stations have bird sounds playing near the exits so you can find your way out by the sound alone, I thought that was genius – practical, accessible and relaxing! That was definitely my favourite holiday.
Here’s a photo of a train in Japan that was completely Hello Kitty themed.
