Essential Requirements
- Knowledge of safeguarding best practice for children
- Be able to carry out assessments and co-produce individual support plans
- Experience of completing risk assessment and carrying out referrals
- Be able to develop support programmes
- Experience working with children and young people
- An understanding of intimate teen violence
- Be confident to work within educational services
- Be able to deliver group work
- Understand child and adolescent development
- Understand Aces and trauma informed interventions.
And someone who can:
- Understand the issues affecting children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse
- Understand and commit to diversity and inclusion responsibilities
- Be person centred at all times
- Share best practice knowledge
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and staff team which will include evenings and weekends (as required)
- Act with integrity, be trustworthy and treat people with dignity and respect
- Remain calm when dealing with a crisis or emergency
- Ensure all services meet contract requirements
- Ensure clients are at the forefront when making decisions about service design and delivery
- Work to raise awareness of the service, produce good publicity materials, develop and maintain excellent relationships with people both within YOU and externally, and be an ambassador and champion for our work

The Role
The primary purpose of this role is to work with children and young people (CYP) who reside in a refuge or safe house/sanctuary accommodation, and who are experiencing familial domestic abuse, and/or who are harming a family member.
You will carry out appropriate assessments, working in partnership with colleagues to ensure a holistic response.
You will complete/review DASH young people’s risk assessments, working with colleagues to design and provide one to one sessions as required, whether in community or accommodation-based settings.
You are responsible for safeguarding the people you work with, and raising alerts as required. All interventions will have a therapeutic gain for the child/young person.
About You
- You will be a skilled, motivated and innovative person driven by passion to support children and young people where their psychosocial development has been impacted due to their experiences of domestic abuse.
- You will have worked with children and/or young people and will understand their development phases and know how to deliver age appropriate sessions to maximise impact and engagement.
- You will enjoy being part of a team and love learning which you will share, just as your colleagues will share theirs.
- You will believe in a whole family approach and remain client centred at all times.
- You will be able to use national and local evidence based resources to develop your own groups and individual sessions – appropriate for the age of the person you are working with.
- You will also be able to work in partnership with colleagues to ensure whole family approach, taking a lead role where necessary.
- You will have an understanding and commitment to a wide range of values that underpin this work including being non-judgemental, person centred, trauma informed and gender responsive and be able to demonstrate these values within your work.
- You will hold values that inspire a client led approach and be self-motivating, reflective and have a positive response to challenging situations.
