Essential Requirements
The ideal Peer Coordinator will have:
• In-depth gardening experience to use within an allotment setting
• Qualification or training in community engagement/groups facilitation/volunteer coordinator or lived/worked life experience
• Lived experience of sexual violence/abuse/trauma
• Knowledge and experience of Windows (Office package), Microsoft Outlook
• Able to work using own initiative and as part of a team
• The ability to work flexible hours: including evenings and weekends
• Must have own car, a driving licence and be willing to travel for work

The Role
The primary purpose of this role is to create an adult Volunteer Peer support network by recruiting, training and supporting survivors of sexual violence/abuse/trauma who have accessed YOU Counselling Centres, or other partner agencies. You will co-produce a client led and informed programme that will enable people to develop skills and confidence to offer support to others, and learn self-supporting methods for themselves. This work will focus around The Allotment Project (TAP), where you will lead on learning about eco systems and planting, develop co-creating approaches, activities and support Peers to become a self-sustaining TAP team. You will facilitate opportunities for all client voices to be heard, demonstrating the value and impact of lived experience and encourage clients through identification and assessment to be part of the peer support team.

You must have experience of
• Successfully engaging with people
• Working with volunteers/or lived experience of being a volunteer
• Providing/receiving support and/or supervision, and experience of training and/or groups
• Working with/supporting people who have experienced sexual violence, abuse or sexual trauma
• Dealing with supporting people who have experienced sexual violence, abuse or sexual trauma
• Inclusion and diversity, and anti-racist and anti-discriminatory practice
• Handling safeguarding issues and processes, and handling risk management processes
• A client led approach with a commitment to co-production
• Challenging myths, stereo types and attitudes, and advocating for victims and survivors
You must have the ability to
• Understand from the perspective of all victims/survivors and embrace differences
• Develop a culture of working together creatively
• Support a person to see their own qualities and strengths
• Offer, and engage with, effective support and supervision
• Communicate effectively with women, men in distress
• Work across the county and travel to other Trust locations when necessary
You will also need to be a car driver with use of car for work purposes
