What is DIPS?

November 24, 2021

Welcome to First Point, or Dorset Integrated Prevention Service (DIPS). First Point is a branch under the You Trust, which offers some amazing services for those in need. Here at First Point, we offer support for 16-years-old and up. We aim to provide guidance, assistance and support with reducing homelessness, poverty, poor physical or mental health, social isolation, and much more.

We know that when going through something like this, it can be isolating, overwhelming and it seems like there is little room for hope. But we want to walk with you through this difficult part of your life and enable you to look forward. We know talking to a stranger about this for the first time can be daunting. But our Central Point of Contact (CPOC) workers can offer friendly guidance through our service, offering a drop-in appointment at one of our many drop-in’s based all around Dorset, link you up with a member of our team or through our no wrong door approach, refer you to a partner agency to provide that vital support.

DIPS is made up of multi-skilled staff and each member has a unique skillset. Our teams work closely, collaborating and sharing our knowledge and experience with each other. Together we have a pool of knowledge for almost every situation. And if we don’t know, we will find out! DIPS consists of:

  • Central Point of Contact Workers
  • Mental Health Recovery Workers
  • Community Health and Wellbeing Partners
  • A Crisis Intervention Worker
  • Team Managers
  • Service Manager

DIPS Testimonials

Mental health recovery workers

My mental health recovery worker is great. She listens to me and is helping me with everything. She helped me to sort my finances. Gives me emotional support and is going to help me look for voluntary work and groups locally.

My mental health recovery worker is so down to earth and friendly. She is helping me get a housing application together, I am really pleased with the support I am getting, it is spot on.

Community health and wellbeing partners

She is very genuine and caring in every way and tries to get the right help put into place for me. She has done more than I ever expected to get any help with. Just to hear from her makes my day a better day. She listens. I can’t thank her enough. I can’t put it into words how much I appreciate what she has done to help us. Someone you can believe in because she cares. It is not just a job to her as she genuinely cares.

I like that he gets things done very quickly. He has been a lot of help to me. He has helped me with my housing problems. He has been great and couldn’t have done any more.

My CH&WP has been absolutely brilliant, superb. He understood that I need people to take the time to explain things to me. He went into great detail so I could understand.
