How we work
Hampshire Rape and Sexual Assault Counselling (Hampshirerasac) is a portal that offers a list of services that are available for children, young adults and adults in Hampshire who have suffered from abuse.
YOU Counselling Centres have three main teams:
STAR Counselling
This is our Sexual Trauma and Recovery Counselling team working across the South of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight with people who have experienced recent or historic rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse – whether you knew at the time or not that it was abusive. As an inclusive team we understand that anyone can experience sexualised trauma. We work with cis and transgender men, women, young people and children. We offer one-to-one counselling at our dedicated counselling centres in Portsmouth and Fareham, can offer virtual counselling or via phone. We can also travel to you and meet in your community at a safe space. We run specifically designed groups and hold them for mixed genders, single sex, people who identify under the LGBTQ+ umbrella and children and young people. We are members of the Male Survivors Trust. This is free to access counselling.

PARAGON
At this time when people are seeking support we are sad to say that our counselling services are oversubscribed. We have had to close our PARAGON counselling for all areas, except Portsmouth.
All our other services are still running. Once we have reduced our waiting list we will open again. We are currently seeking additional funding and as soon as we have increased capacity we’ll let you know here.
Counselling with You
This is a Portsmouth-only team offering generic counselling for adults who live or work in Portsmouth. People come to talk about issues such as anxiety, low mental health, developing life skills after substance abuse, relationship difficulties, life events and loss and bereavement. As part of our sustainability we are required to ask for a small fee to go towards the cost of our work to help us keep this work going, and this will be discussed with you at your assessment. Our fees are very low and in keeping with your income. We don’t expect you to fully fund your sessions and will not turn you away, but we do need to use our resources wisely.

How can you help
Where possible, we keep our counselling free or ask for a very low fee. To support the continuation of all our work, we welcome donations or sponsorship. Please contact us if you are able to support our work financially or you can make a donation.
