Welcome to YOU Counselling Centres (YCC), this page will guide you through our centre and allow you to understand how we can work with you if you have experienced Sexual Trauma or Domestic Violence.
STAR, which stands for Sexual Trauma Recovery, and Paragon Counselling are part of YOU Counselling Centres, developed and delivered by The YOU Trust (YOU).
PARAGON and STAR Counselling work with people who have experienced recent or non-recent rape, sexual abuse or sexual or domestic violence/crime.
Counselling with You is a Portsmouth only team offering generic counselling for adults who live, work, study or volunteer in Portsmouth PO1-PO6.
We provide counselling, group therapy, retreats and specialist recovery groups. We are members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Male Survivors Trust.
Our Paragon teams have achieved Leading Lights Standards via Safe Lives.
Our teams both started working with female victims and have long since pioneered and advocated for working with males, and all adult victims and survivors. We have specialist interventions for all adults, and our values and the work we have carried out with the Male Survivors trust underpins our gender aware approach. Our staff are trained to work with male victims and are mindful of the differences and the specific impact of sexual assault/rape on men.

YOU is an organisational member of British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work within their ethical framework. Many of our counsellors are either Accredited or Members of the BACP.
All practising BACP members must be registered or working towards registration.
Accreditation is a quality standard for experienced practitioners, designed to recognise a counsellor’s capacity for independent, ethical and competent practice.
All counsellors’ certificates can be viewed in our counselling centres in Portsmouth and Fareham. They are displayed in waiting rooms and our counselling rooms. All certificates are also held by each counsellor and can be viewed on request.

The team and the service that has been provided have been outstanding. Efficient timing for intervention, particularly considering the longer wait times a lot of other services have.
YOU Counselling Centres have three main teams:
STAR Counselling
This is our Sexual Trauma and Recovery Counselling team (STAR). STAR works across the South of Hampshire, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight with people who have experienced recent or non-recent rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse. Whether you knew at the time or not that it was abusive.
As an inclusive team, we understand that anyone can experience sexualised trauma. We work with cis and transgender men, women, young people and children. We offer one-to-one counselling at our dedicated counselling centres in Portsmouth and Fareham. We can offer virtual counselling or via phone. We can also travel to you and meet in your community at a safe space. We run specifically designed groups and hold them for mixed genders, single sex, people who identify under the LGBTQ+ umbrella and children and young people. We are members of the Male Survivors Trust.
