YOU Counselling Centres
How we work
We are inclusive and work with each person as individuals, valuing their life experiences and know that we are all affected differently. We hope that together, we can get you back on the track you want to be on, helping you recover from life experiences, learning how to live alongside those experiences and gain meaning and purpose in your life.
YOU Counselling Centres have three main teams:
|Team||What they offer|
|STAR Counselling||This is our Sexual Trauma and Recovery Counselling team working across the South of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight with people who have experienced recent or historic rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse – whether you knew at the time or not that it was abusive. As an inclusive team we understand that anyone can be a victim and we work with cis and trans women, men, children and young people. We offer one-to-one counselling at our dedicated counselling centres in Portsmouth and Fareham, can offer virtual counselling or via phone. We can also travel to you and meet in your community at a safe space. We run specifically designed groups and hold them for mixed genders, single sex, people who identify under the LGBTQ+ umbrella and children and young people. We are members of the Male Survivors Trust. This is free to access counselling.|
|You First Counselling||This is a team of counsellors working with adults who have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence and abuse. We offer this support across the South Coast of England; West Sussex, Hampshire the Isle of Wight, Dorset and Somerset. These sessions are generally virtual and this is discussed when you contact us. This is free to access counselling.|
|Counselling with You||This is a Portsmouth-only team offering generic counselling for adults who live or work in Portsmouth. People come to talk about issues such as anxiety, low mental health, developing life skills after substance abuse, relationship difficulties, life events and loss and bereavement. As part of our sustainability we are required to ask for a small fee to go towards the cost of our work to help us keep this work going, and this will be discussed with you at your assessment. Our fees are very low and in keeping with your income. We don’t expect you to fully fund your sessions and will not turn you away, but we do need to use our resources wisely.|
How can you help
Where possible, we keep our counselling free or ask for a very low fee. To support the continuation of all our work, we welcome donations or sponsorship. Please contact us if you are able to support our work financially or you can make a donation.
