Counselling with You is a Portsmouth only team offering generic counselling for adults who live, work, study or volunteer in Portsmouth PO1-PO6.
Our aim is to help you explore issues that impact on your emotional and psychological wellbeing. Counsellors can help with issues like:
- low mental health
- substance misuse
- relationship issues
- isolation and loneliness
We work with women and men, over the age of 18 years, and are an inclusive, gender-aware team.
While we don’t claim to be identity specialists, our team are there to support any person in their journey of discovery. We want to help you understand and come to terms with changes and the impact of those changes.
Our service is made up of volunteer counsellors. Some are qualified and offer sessions to enable everyone in our community to access counselling. While others are completing their final qualification and require placement hours.
All counsellors go through the same recruitment processes as paid staff, and are required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before working with you. They receive clinical supervision from our Counselling Supervisor and are subject to the same rigorous ethics as all our counsellors. All are subject to the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) ethical framework. Many are individual members of the BACP and some are accredited.
