First Point Dorset provides support with a wide range of issues, like housing, social isolation and poverty. We also have special workers who can help with mental health. Mental Health Recovery Workers work alongside people recovering from poor mental health to help their recovery in their own space. We have 4 recovery workers in our team. They cover:
- East Dorset
- Purbeck
- The North
- West Dorset and Weymouth & Portland
Our Mental Health Recovery Workers are incredible at their job and go above and beyond for their clients. Using a holistic approach they encourage the individual to meet their own goals. Each worker is flexible and adapts to each client’s needs. They bring vast experience to their roles, and if they can’t help with something, they’ll find someone who can.
It’s very important to reach out if you need help with your mental health, and we realise it can be scary. But our service is approachable, friendly and we will try our best to support you on your journey to recovery.
Our Mental Health Recovery Workers feel it’s important to take time out for yourself and that everyone should practice ‘self-care’. This could be talking 15 minutes out to go for a walk, read a book or listen to music with your eyes closed.
Our service provides drop-ins all around Dorset where we’ll listen and help to the best of our ability. Whether that help comes from our service or signposting to other charities, we can offer support.
We understand the start of the recovery journey can be daunting, but reaching out for support can be lifesaving.
