On 1 May, the Personalised Care Team (PCN) held their monthly drop in at St Margaret’s Community Church in Portsmouth.
This month’s theme for the drop in celebrated National Walking Month. May is a time to promote the benefits of walking for health, mental well-being and enjoying the fresh air outdoors.
We think it’s important to raise awareness about physical activities and being outside. Which is why we invited two wonderful organisations to join us at the drop in.
Rowshonara Reza, from Portsmouth City Council Independence and Wellbeing Team, were joined by Cycling Without Age. Many delighted attendees enjoyed a free trike ride along Southsea’s promenade! It was a beautiful sunny day, so this experience was very special for everyone.
Rowshonara discussed the variety of free walking groups and routes they offer in the council. She also discussed other outdoor activities available. Such as free gardening groups and outdoor yoga in Victoria Park in Portsmouth.
Feedback from individuals who use the PCN is incredibly important as it helps us make informed decisions. That’s why the entire team will now be trained through Portsmouth City Council on behalf of The Ramblers. They will facilitate their own bi-weekly walking groups, which will take place along Southsea promenade.
