Social Prescribing Day takes place on 14 March each year. Social prescribing has become increasingly important as a way of helping people with non-medical needs. For example, feeling lonely may not be a medical condition at first, but it may eventually become one.
Our social prescribing team connects people with the community and others in similar situations. It’s a great way to stop health issues from developing from things like social isolation. This can be done in many different ways by our social prescribers.
To celebrate Social Prescribing Day, we’re opening up our St Mary’s office to patients, community organisations/services and volunteers! While we’re open to the public, we’ll be showcasing everything great about social prescribing.
We invite everyone to experience the variety of support we offer. Including music, gardening, socialising, well-being and creativity, as well as being able to see our office space and the entire social prescribing team together.
We hope that doing this will demonstrate the diversity of support we offer and the impact it has on the individuals we support. Social prescribing is provided to empower and enable individuals to become more self-reliant, resilient, and more active in their own health and care.
