Tracy and Sarah are volunteers at YOU Counselling Centres and they’ve just won the Education and Mentoring Team Award! The award is sponsored by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors. It was presented during the Portsmouth Inspiring Volunteer Awards on 13th September, 2023 in Fratton Park.
The event is arranged by HIVE Portsmouth, Portsmouth City Council, Portsmouth Football Club and Piglets Pantry.
For 14 years Tracy and Sarah have been volunteering for the small community group Power in People Supporters (PIPS). This group delivers the More to Life: The Power of Self-Esteem course.
The Education and Mentoring Team Award was awarded to Tracy and Sarah for their amazing contributions over the last 10 years. Between them they have worked on over 25 different courses!

Tracy and Sarah support the delivery of The Power of Self-Esteem and The Power of Purpose courses in the YOU Counselling Centres. It’s offered as part of the STAR-Light Steps for STAR counselling. These are delivered to clients of STAR Counselling by Carey Warden of YOU Counselling Centres and Chair of PIPS.
And this often means being on call for parallel and overlapping courses, and requires great commitment and dedication. They’ve become highly skilled and supportive facilitators, inspiring participants by sharing their knowledge and their own journeys. This award especially recognises their years of dedicated support to PIPS and the residents of Paulsgrove and Wymering. But also acknowledges the STAR courses held in Eastleigh, Fareham, Isle of Wight and Southampton.
