A new career can be a daunting experience. Careers week shines a light onto the resources one can make use of to inform their future job options. It’s also a great opportunity to talk to those who have just started their career. We featured Sam in our last blog, and today we’re talking to Amy.
Amy’s a recent addition to the team and wanted to share her experience joining us. Thank you for sharing, Amy!
I have just finished my third week in my new role as Group Employee Experience Partner. And so far, I have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome I’ve received from everyone across the organisation.
I was initially drawn to YOU due to their values. These are:
- Person Centred
- Trustworthy
- Excellence
- Can-do
- Innovative
As an HR professional, I truly believe that taking a people-centric approach is the future of HR. It’s great to see these values being lived and breathed, with employee experience being a key focus (it’s even in my job title!).
The process
The recruitment process was very simple. I was interviewed by my Team Leader and our Assistant HR Director. And I was able to find out a lot more about the role through the interview process.
The onboarding experience was well planned and helped to put any first-day nerves at ease. Before my first day, I was invited to come into the office to sign the recruitment paperwork over a cup of coffee. This was a great opportunity to see some faces that I hadn’t met during the recruitment process. And to spend a bit of time with my new colleagues!
So far, in my first few weeks, I have spent a lot of time getting to know my own team as well as our managers. This is useful as I start to support our people who deliver an incredible service. Building relationships across the organisation and seeing the work they do is by far the most enjoyable part of working in People and Learning. And I look forward to getting to know our people more over the coming weeks and months.
