Essential Requirements
The successful Senior Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (internally known as IDVA) will have:
- Nationally recognised IDVA qualification or willingness to commence/complete IDVA training within a year of appointment
- Experience supporting women, men and children who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse on 1;1 or group work basis
- Experience of providing Supervision and Case management with IDVA/ DVA workers
- Experience of completing and building on strengths, needs and risk assessments
- Experience of responding calmly and effectively to people in crisis or emergency
- Understanding of domestic violence and abuse issues affecting families
- Have a full UK Drivers Licence
- Be Female
The appointed Senior IDVA will:
- I work and support the Paragon team to deliver the service in line with the service specification, KPIs and YOU processes, policies and procedures
- I provide practical and emotional support to clients experiencing high and medium risk domestic violence and abuse
- I co-produce individual safety and support plans with clients and ensure the SMART actions are carried out
- I complete evidenced based risk assessments, such as the DASH RIC, addressing the risk of harm to each person I work with, their children and wider family (when required)
- I am part of a team who participates and contributes to MARAC, ensuring any outcomes are communicated to the client and incorporated into any interventions and risk plans
- I work with internal and external partners to advocate on behalf of all victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse
- I develop and maintain effective professional working relationships both internally and externally for the best interests of clients
- I will provide regular supervision with the DVA team and will carry out regular case reviews in line with national recommended case management practice.

The Role
The role of the Senior IDVA is to work closely with people who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse and assessed as high/medium risk and where targeted and specialist support is required.
All IDVA’s provide high quality advocacy and support, identifying other members of the family and children, who may be also be at risk.
The role involves multi-agency working and engaging with local partners and receiving referrals from and attending/preparing reports for court and other meetings such the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and other victim focused meetings.
You will provide one to one session, recovery group work and work in close partnerships to build sustainable relationships in our communities.
The Senior IDVA will provide supervision with IDVAs, case management, case audits and data base oversight.
They will also deputise for the Manager in their absence and support managers of the delivery of a high-risk domestic abuse response
